Canyon de Chelly National Monument – Chinle, Arizona – 06/01/2010

Canyon de Chelly is the second largest canyon in the state of Arizona.

It is a stunning protected area in the Navajo Nation, yet it is frequently overlooked as most people instead flock to the Grand Canyon.

Steep, red sandstone canyon walls, with canyon floors full of brilliant greenery.

Wild Navajo horses roam freely.

Navajo artisans are often located throughout the canyon viewpoints and parking areas, offering fantastic hand-crafted items at amazing prices.

Trillian bought a silver and turquoise dream catcher necklace, and Alysia picked a hand-carved sandstone with Kokopelli and other Native American symbols.

Such beautiful souvenirs from a magical place, indeed!
